The Court of Accounts of the State of Paraná (TCE/PR), housed in a listed building over 40 years old, faced a major challenge in its network infrastructure. With more than 50 km of accumulated copper cabling and an infrastructure exceeding 15 years of use, the institution could no longer expand its network points in compliance with current technical standards. This saturation compromised operations, limited the onboarding of new staff, and prevented the technological evolution required to meet growing digital demands.
To address this scenario, DCA, in partnership with QW Tecnologia, implemented a fully optical solution based on Lightera’s Laserway technology with Nokia equipment. The project involved a complete retrofit of the existing copper infrastructure and the deployment of a modern, scalable, and highly efficient network architecture. The new network leveraged passive optical elements, freed up physical space in racks, cable trays, and technical rooms, significantly reduced energy consumption, and ensured greater stability and performance across all TCE/PR environments.
As part of this process, approximately two tons of copper cabling were removed and sent to the Green IT Program, which promotes recycling and environmentally responsible disposal of such materials.
With the adoption of Laserway, TCE Paraná now benefits from a future-ready connectivity infrastructure, capable of evolving alongside technology without the need for new structural renovations. The network is ready for upgrades such as XGS-PON, supporting speeds of up to 10 Gbps and advanced applications like Wi-Fi 7.
With greater operational efficiency, reduced energy consumption, and a more organized and secure architecture, the project delivered significant gains, modernizing operations and strengthening the institution’s ability to serve society with excellence.
