Usiminas, the largest flat steel manufacturer in Latin America, invested in upgrading the CCTV system at its Cubatão (SP) facility, replacing the analog system with IP technology without the need to replace the existing cameras. The project, led by Grupo Devices with support from DCA, involved high complexity due to the diversity of existing equipment.
To integrate the analog cameras into the IP network, video encoder chassis with high-performance boards were used, supporting up to 84 cameras and featuring redundant power supply, ensuring reliability and flexibility in monitoring. The Digifort Enterprise software manages all cameras, alarm devices, and video servers, enabling efficient operation and compatibility with different models and brands.
The cameras were positioned in strategic areas, including administrative buildings, entrances, and the facility’s port, with secure storage in two systems that retain footage for up to 60 days (90 days in specific port areas). The infrastructure leveraged the existing corporate network, segmented by VLANs, reducing additional investment in cabling.
The project resulted in high availability, performance, and image quality, improving security operations and ensuring Usiminas’ satisfaction with the technical support and on-time delivery.
